Too busy pissing into a plastic bottle to read the signs?
Foreigner. Can tell from mirror layout and load body sheets. Highly likely to be Polish, Romanian, Bulgarian or Hungarian running those setups so likelihood of being able to read and understand signs are slim.del mar said:
when the bridge is closed to high sided vehicles, is there no mechanism to stop them ?
Blackwall tunnel has a height restriction, if a lorry triggers a height alarm they close the tunnel and instruct him to take a slip road out of the way.
The tollbooths used to be effective but were understandably unpopular. I believe the new bridge has wind deflectors so it won't be such an issue in the future.Blackwall tunnel has a height restriction, if a lorry triggers a height alarm they close the tunnel and instruct him to take a slip road out of the way.
The last muppet who did this got charged with dangerous driving. I imagine the same will go for this genius.
The only plus side is that in a few months, non-public service vehicles will be banned from the Forth Road Bridge when the new Queensferry Crossing opens. President-elect Sturgeon assures us that the design of the new bridge will mean never having to close it or restrict traffic types because of winds.

Looks to be appearing from custody which suggests foreign driver.
Meantime, hapless trucker no 1 gets fined £1000 and banned for 2 years.

The driver of the lorry that overturned on the Forth Road Bridge in January's gales, blocking it for 19 hours, has been fined £1,000 and banned from driving for two years.
Aleksander Niemiec, from Macclesfield in Cheshire, was also ordered to re-sit the driving test and HGV licence test.
Niemiec, 55, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving on 11 January by failing to comply with road signs.
The signs said the bridge was closed to high-sided vehicles due to high winds.
He appeared before Sheriff Kenneth Maciver at Edinburgh Sheriff Court earlier with a Polish interpreter.

Another foreigner, unsurprisingly.
I don't know the particular signs are used to indicate that it is restricted to high sided vehicles but I do have some sympathy towards foreign drivers in the UK.With the recent exception of Wales UK of all places, when driving outside of England I've never been left in any doubt as to what foreign road signs mean, even in EU countries where I don't have a smattering of the language.
They seem to use a lot of picture signs, where we seem to rely more on text.
