Disc's All Round ?

During a conversation I had recently, the topic of Jago brakes came up,and the suggestion of discs all round was aired. Any thoughts from you guys that are more knowledgeable than I, OK that's all of you I know!

It is possible to fit discs on the rear axle of an Escort I believe they are usually the front discs from the Mk3 Escort and to provide the handbrake you use the Sierra or Granada rear callipers.
There are conversion kits on the market which have all the necessary brackets etc to do the job.
So yes discs all round on a Jago is a definite possibility.

Hi there,

Don't do it, I looked into this extensively, but you will end up with the back overbraked by a factor of several, you'll just lock the back up all the time unless you have a bias box to keep the rear pressure down, then there's no point. It's expensive to do as well as you need th handbrake to be mechanical.

If you want a slight inprovement use 9" rear brakes (I'm going to do this myself) also ask your friendly factors to get wheel cylinders with the biggest bore fitted to escorts, there are 4 sizes, largest is about 20mm from memory. I can find out more if you want.

thanks for the feedback everyone...what does BT say ? it's good to talk! The subject was raised when I said about how heavy 8x15's and nobbly tyres are...and it kinda grew from there...I must admit to thinking about 9" brakes if they are easy to get hold of that is.
