Thought I would relate my experience cleaning filthy seats. I bought an ancient Merc estate which had indescribably filthy seats, which are a very impractical pale yellow colour (well they were originally). The situation was made worse by the previous owner leaving a rear window open when it was raining, then not drying the wet areas. As a result the rear seat, carpet and seat belt were covered in mouldy spots. As for the front seats, they reminded me of the line about why cars belonging to nudists have lower trade-in value . . . .
I tried Vax carpet and upholstery shampoo to start with, it shifted some of the dirt but not the mould. My wife also used a steam cleaner on the carpets. I then tried Auto Glym interior shampoo which did the trick. It cleaned up all of the dirt, stains and the mould, so now the car doesn't smell musty.
One 500ml bottle would be enough for a 2 seat sports car, I bought a second bottle to do 4 seats, door panels, carpets and vinyl trim.
I have no connection with Auto Glym other than as a satisfied user.
