Are you speaking from experience?

I'm looking at something for £5k with 150k on the clock. I just fancy trying it and will probably get bored in 6-12 months if the past is anything to go by.

Of course I'll lose a bit on it but I don't want to take a bath.

Will the majority think it's past its usable life by then?

Depends what it is

A Citroen Picasso or a Ferrari 250 GTO

I don't think you would loose to much on the 2nd one

Details.
What car ?
There's some cars I'd buy with 150K and many I wouldn't.

Well it should be a bit cheaper than other similar models on sale with lower mileage I'm guessing?

That will allow you to price it a bit cheaper than the equivalent model on sale in ~12 months time. There will always be someone looking for a bargain and if your car is priced lower than the rest someone will snap it up.

Yep, there's a few of us who love high mileage cars.

I've been looking at those recently, and reasonably high mileage ones too. It's a fairly niche car so you'd hope that people looking at them will be a bit knowledgeable and know that they will wear the miles better than just about anything else. If you're willing to pay £5k for it then I would expect that someone out there will pay not much less than that it in a year's time - after all it's only going to have a fraction more miles on it. The only thing that could significantly dent the value is if it's due a major service when you come to sell - as I understand it not cheap on these. Who knows, I may be interested myself!

Isn't 150k on a Lexus not even broken in yet?
On that high mileage thread I love it's populated mostly by Lexii (plural) and Mercedes.

Have you looked into likely repair areas in these? Got a kitty etc for just Incase repairs.

Lexus Essential servicing seems reasonably priced to me.
I've got an IS 250 at the moment and found it to be fine. Best car I've owned without a doubt. Not exciting but it's got enough poke.

Just fancy trying an SUV as I never have.
