Anyone know? My speedo has just stopped working (think its water in the sensor, dunno if this self repairs ever).

Anyway I need to know what mph you get in in each gear per 1000 rpm. Might just save my license!

Stay below 2k in first and you should be safe!

Trouble is, you can add on 10mph per thousand revs when your car has stripes, because we all know they make you go faster!

Love the fish eye effect!

I'm just wondering whether holding a hairdryer to the sensor might help...

My speedo has started coming on and off willy nilly too. One moment its fine, the next its off. I spoke to Tony at the factory and he was very helpfull in telling me what to do but I don't have a jack that will get under the car. (my Voyager is a little higher!!) So I can't get the wheel off the get to the sensor.

Mine is on the driver side front, I can see it with the clam up, a thin wire running into the hub.

I think it will be on the nearside on the 2.5's and 3's.

Let me know if you find a solution please. Otherwise it will be my first visit back to dealer.

Since we are talking about speedometers, has anyone had any trouble with their tachometers? Mine is sluggish and jerky. The engine gets to 6000 before the tach shows it.

I think its a dealerfix issue although it may cure itself going by the threads on here. There was a post from micknall saying they were investigating ways of making them more water resistant, so hopefully that research has lead to a change!

I had this issue and my dealer has fixed it. I now don't get any problems even after the car has been washed.

The newer sensors aren't so problematic - the M400 one has been fine despite regular hosing down by me.

If it bugs you get it changed by your dealer for the newer one.

Dan, can you let me know what they say. Mine is booked into Kerridges neat sat for the exaust bracket to be re-welded and the speedo sensor to be fixed. I asked about fitting the later one and was told its not at option. (maybe that its not necessary?)

Thanks GN

Apart from the M400 one is on the NSF and your is on the OSF I can't see there is any difference!

How strange...

Update :

Apparently there is no modification for the speedo sensor to make it more water resistant. They have changed how its mounted slightly now by drilling out the slot in the calliper (or something like that) which I think was to ease fitting.

Oh well.

Cool. Mine is going in on Sat am to Kerridges for the same mod I guess.

Does anyone know if Kerridges could give me this ECU update thats been chatted about, while there on Sat. Mine is a 10 month old 3R. What does it do?

Also started to get some wobble and slight grinding noise when breaking hard from high speeds. I had this a bit at Bedford autodrome and the brakes did not really inspire confidence when getting to the end of the straight at 300mph and staring at a wall They felt like they might be about to stop working and fall off!!!

Does the steel hose upgrade make a big difference??

Thanks for help with my multi question post.

Mine has never work properly from day one every time it has been back to a well known Noble/TVR/Lotus dealer in the Northwich/Cheshire area(and believe me, this is a lot ) it has been fixed, works for a few days and then breaks again.

The problems are it jumps all over the place or stops working all together... far from good.

It troubles me to think something as fundamental as this can't be fixed...

It was a well known problem which the factory said they were looking at. Mines got fixed at its 6000 service and has been fine since. Still works after the car has just been washed.

I would respectfully suggest, that if it ain't broke don't fix it.

I had an ECU update at Rockingham, and my car now has a few problems so is having to be taken over to Roush. It may be that the map is fine and somehow it got corrupted during transfer, or it may in fact be that my ECU is simply shagged, but right now the fans aren't working and its not idling properly when cold.

I'm always an idiot about patching stuff. I do the same thing on my PC bios upgrades =/

Me too Dan. If an updets is available then I WANT it NOW. But maybe I should do as you say and leave well alone. I will just ask the chaps at Kerridges then.

Thanks for help on that though.
