It is definitely getting better.
A work colleague received an email purportedly from me the other, discussing a bank transfer which I had agreed with him (I had done this) but with a changed bank account detail. It was only when he confirmed bank details with me, by separate email (not replying) that we realised something was up. Server had clearly been hacked and emails viewed.
Not sure how they did it, but emails appeared to be coming from me but when we dug deeper they were masking real email address with my name... quite scary.

I love these, but don't get enough of them. It's fun to gradually wind up the crazy. Start reasonable and get downright daft. Wasting these guy's time prevents them from scamming others.
Can't see what the scam is here yet. Could just be an email phish, in which case responding is what they want, but that aside might I suggest...

Dear Victor Steel,
Thanks for the confirmation of order. Your link to the order details doesn't work. I suspect that these were ordered by our Erections specialist. Please confirm that these are:
QUANTITY: 24
Description: Polkerdot reinforced steel joists. 25meter, throbbing, I beam, 400*400mm.
Could you send a invoice please? I need it on headed paper in .pdf format.
Once I have that and a delivery date, I will start to organise payment.
Kind Regards,
Harr Dknutt.

That should give plenty of scope to increase the silly whilst stalling on providing payment details. Thanks for the confirmation of order. Your link to the order details doesn't work. I suspect that these were ordered by our Erections specialist. Please confirm that these are:
