A device to block "Fox News" from your TV is being marketed in the States in response to the far right wing views aired on the station. Looks like our "cousins" are waking up at last.

Perhaps when there has been over 40 years of left wing media diet as the norm, a more centrist view(or alternative opinion)seems "extreme right". All things are relative. Your "cousins" over here are waking up; however, not as you think. We are waking up to the fact that the left has controlled the media so long, it is time for an alternative. The blocker you see marketed is another lame attempt by left wing groups upset that their "birthright" of contolling the media is being infringed upon. Fox viewers are far more supportive of a "capitalist Britain" than a "socialist" one; if I am correct, most PHers do as well. Although we "support" Blair, that is because we support the British and he is your current leader.
Notice that the "left" are all about free speech, free thinking, etc, until it contrasts their views, then BAM! Everyone is an extremists, and so on. That crap is so tired, go try it on the French, they still eat it!!

Agreed. I find it interesting that all the reference sites listed on the Foxblocker website are very left-wing in nature. As a libertarian and neither left nor right, I will admit that FNC leans a bit to the right, but they are much more centrist than CNN, ABC, et al.

You can see a similar thing with the PC phenonom.
If something is not politically conveniant free speech goes out the window.
All news has left wing journalists and reporters controlled by centrist/moderate editors and publishers controlled by right-wing owners...
It just depends on how much editorial control the owners have... I think it's best that the editors and journalists control what we see; after all, they're closer to the action and see more than those above them. I'd rather see an active "fourth branch" than a passive "state news" media anyday, the bias in there is a very secondary factor.
Remember the months leading up to Iraq? It was difficult to find anything critical of either government on television; maybe you'd see some debate on CNN, and PBS and the BBC would get an analyst to point out some of the more egregiously bullshitted claims, but for the most part they showed what they'd been given and reported what they'd been told. At the end of the day it's not how you reported your conclusions that matters, it's whether you investigated the claims rationally and told what you found honestly...

Interesting stuff Jimbeaux, you're either a multi billionaire or a fool. I don't know which. Like too much Communism, too much Capitalism is dangerous, it only serves "one master". 
It seems also that no-one here has heard of the "D" notice, which prevents certain "issues" being reported. They are used, whatever the government, freedom eh?
Oh! and as for the "lefty" BBC, They lauched a scathing attack on Tony Blair last week on "Panorama", in all, but calling him a liar, which I agree with. Perhaps you missed it?

What's left wing about that? It's exactly the critisism shown on here by yourself and other right wingers. Don't you want your message aired then? It was the BBC that said it after all and not some other "private" company. I like to call it as it is, if it's a liar, I'll say so no matter what the "party".

Without having seen the broadcast in question I assume that was the issue they were accusing him of lying about.
Nah, Jimbeaux is spot on, liberals are only so as long as you agree with them. If you don't, they become easily as aggressive as those they denounce. The amount of vitriol I get from so-called liberals because I'm against the European Union (note I'm NOT against Europeans) always amazes me.
Jaglover & Yugguy, thanks; you both spoke to the issue more eloquently than I could have....one reason for that is (per 8Pack) that I am "a fool". Did you notice his phrase "too much capitalism is bad like too much Communism"? Telling, is it not? ANY Communism is bad, much less "too much"! Too much capitalism causes us to serve one master??? Sorry, but the more capitalism we have here, the more competition, the better the service, the more choices, etc. etc......
