I'd say that £25K would be a bit much for it myself; Claremont are knocking out a 2002 manual for £27K, and a 2001 Z06 for £30K...

So I'd rather expect it to be more like £20-£22K privately, depending on how quick you want to shift it.

Just my 2p worth

...grass is always greener......good luck selling it!

Private sale C5's are difficult especially at the higher prices, you might be better to chop it in against something else with someone like Bauer Millett if you fancy another yank.
My advice for what it is worth is that you are trying to sell at the best time as spring is traditionally the time most people buy "sports/american etc." cars but if you get to July and still haven't shifted it take a deep breath, cross your fingers and pucker up for the dealer shafting........

Wasnt thinking of having another American car, BUT i'm not gonna get bummed so i may be forced into it.... Can see myself in a hummer, but one of the reasons the vette is going is the MPG and the hummer has gotta be worse

Used Hummers are depreciating like a concrete block dropped from a great height.........and yes the fuel consumption is 'quite high' allegedly......I want a yellow one

If your getting shot of the C5 for fuel economy reasons i think you'd be hard pressed to find something else with the performance and better MPG.

Don't forget to compare like for like. doesn't the C5 computer read US gallons** which are smaller than ours by a significant amount giving a lower MPG than the UK equivelent. So them porsches you have been looking at might not be any cheaper to run.

** Can anyone confirm the euro C5 is in US gallons?

I believe that the Euro cars do record consumption in US gallons. I usually show about 22.8mpg which in UK terms is about 27mpg. On that basis you cannot really fault the C5 fuel consumption given the performance etc.

I have a Euro-spec Cadillac, and it reads in US gallons: its trip computer looks exactly like that in the C5, so I'd expect it to be US gallons as well.

Which is 1.2x smaller than our gallon, so a reading of 20mpg is actuall 24mpg in our money.

b3any: as for better MPG, as was discussed you'd be hard pressed to find better MPG from a similarly, or even somewhat less!, powered vehicle.

Its a shame the C6 isnt a few quid less We'll see, i like to try different things, and the porsche has a rear engine, Tiptronic, 4 wheel drive, never had any of the above..... I know it means a drop in power though

My Euro C5 auto is an original UK supplied car. I can tell you for definite that the fuel consumption computer is calibrated in UK gallons not US. The car does around 23 mpg on average (well over 25 mpg on long journeys).

The fuel computer in Euro C5s bought on the Continent may not be calibrated for anything other than "metric" and "American" units. So if the button is pressed to switch it out of km/l it may well read in miles/US gallons. Owners may be able to say for certain one way or the other.

Question for Euro C5 owners with cars sourced on the Continent; When you start the car does the instrument panel display in km and litres until you press the button to switch over to miles/gallons?

On mine, when the key is turned the DIC flashes up the total distance travelled in kilometers for a split second before it say "Corvette by Chevrolet". All gauges and dials are automatically shown in miles and fahrenheit and only change to metric once you push the E/M button. I was going to refer to my handbook to check if the computer worked on US or UK gallons until I realised the handbook is in German......... doh

Well after much delibertaion, I have decided to keep the corvette for another year, but have treated it to a set of ZO6 Chrome wheels from the states that should be here in 2 weeks. Not sure whether to sell the old wheels or throw some slicks on them for trackdays
