ok never had a 911
looked at 993 and love them but inside is a bit dated.

BUt now looking on here this list of faults on the 996 looks scary.
1. RMS failure
2. Intermediate shaft bearing failure
3. Dropped liners
4. Overheating cylinders (caused by the incorrect use of 100% coolant, not a 50/50 mixture)
5. Variocam actuator failure
6. Breather housing oil leaks

how do i check for these on a 5 year old car.

Out of all of these, the only likely one is the RMS leak. The rest are actually extremely uncommon. The dropped liners I believed only involved 97/98 cars and the overheating cylinders is operator muppetry, so not an engine fault.

Variocam problems will register in the computer and would cause the check engine light to show.

You should get a decent inspection - Peter Morgan or similar, or if you are going to take out the porsche warranty then get an OPC to do it and then issue the warranty.

now i am thinking to going back to a 993 and spending 5k on it to get it minted.

past cars were CLio 182, Modded ELise and now a 350z
i want a car which is a cross between the clio and the Lotus, Thought the 350 was going to be it but am not that impressed.
