Hi all,

I'm hoping to get back into 911 ownership soon but have let my NCD lapse as I've been a named driver for years.
I have full NCD on another vehicle but this is a business policy and so I need to start from scratch again for a 997.2 for personal use. 43yr old living in central London with a secure underground car space and quotes so far around the £1500 mark. Any recommendations for insurance companies who you know to be really competitive? Thanks!

I use Marsh (underwritten by Aviva) for my 997 turbo (& 981 Spyder before that). Also others on here use Mannings & NFU with decent feedback.

Try Classic Line. 34 year old living in Herts just insured 997.2 for £400. They don't bother with NCB and specialise in Porsche.

I use Nowell and Richards after someone recommended them on here....through them my car is with Aviva on a policy that includes agreed value on my 997 GTS but also on our new Cayenne includes three year Gap insurance. Car can be repaired at an OPC etc too. Found them very good and not pushy unlike another broker I tried who were long on sales and short on detail !

I have just insured with Esure. They are buying business at the moment. Criteria slightly different but age 56 with 9 years no claims. Fully comp, PNCB and legal cover. All for £248.

Ive also just done classic line for my 997.2 C2s. They were not the cheapest at just over £500 but they included track day cover which I wanted.

If you're in PCGB try the club scheme via Lockton. They don't need your no-claims as they base risk on an overall profile. They should work out cheaper than anywhere else.

AXA

they always beat the next best quote, but then my postcode is Countryside and as for crime: someone nicked a sheep in the next door village.....

last year.....

but returned the sheep the next day with a big smile on its face

so I think I'm easy to insure

One of my friends has a total policy with the NFU, His farm, house buildings and contents, carx2, travel insurance, etc. One package.

I've been ringing round for quotes for my soon to be arriving 2002 996 C2 and Locktons were really helpful and so far cheaper than the others whilst giving very good cover via Chubb (agreed value, breakdown included, choice of repairer etc) thumbup

You need to look at the quality of cover....the most likely thing that any of us will have to claim on unfortunately is accident damage. The cheaper insurers won't let you get the car repaired at a garage of your choice....with something like a Porsche you don't want someone who isn't experienced in repairing them doing it for example. Then there's the question of OEM parts...other threads on the forum of "like for like" rather than OEM parts being used i.e. the same part but not the OEM version. If your car if still under warranty that is also a problem!

Admiral I think don't allow repairer of your choice.

My experience of Admiral when I had a claim for my Porsche Cayman (destroyed suspension sliding on black ice into a curb, £4k damage) was that they accepted the Approved Porsche repairer without quibble. I told them that my warranty was invalidated by using another garage so they agreed.

Their website says, "You can use a repairer of your own choice but doing so means that we can't guarantee the work and you will need to obtain an estimate for us to approve before work can commence. You will also lose your right to a courtesy car."

The real problem for my shopping for insurance is my "high risk" job...
