Dipstick Problem sorted !!!

Well not the actual dipstick but the guide tube.
After recentley rebuilding my engine I forgot to put the guide tube back in, without wanting to completly remove the manifold i decided as a temporaly measure to shorten the tube to get it in, which lead to it being out of shape when i forced it in, thus the original dip stick did not go in so I made a temp one out of a coathanger and guessed the oil level which was a fairly good guess , anyway to cut a long story short I now have sorted it however after removing the manifold the new one will not fit. ing thing after hours of emery clothing it was getting close, but still would not fit, so i decided to put it in the freezer !! yes in my game we have froze metal things to shrink them,
3 Hours later and TADA.
Just in case anyone comes accross the same senario

BTW you can also use pipe freeze in a can.

I had the opposite problem - mine was loose in the block and would spin around! I solved it by making a small metal stay bar out of coat hanger, hooked around the dipstick tube, and soldered to an electrical ring connector which is screwed under one of the rocker cover screws.

Coat hanger is a good idea, Also you can use a metal cable holding strap (the one with 1 hole init for 6-8mm wire)wrap this arround the top of the tube and using a selftapping screw fix it to the side of the rocker cover using the existing hole were the ht plastik thingy is screwed to.
