Got caught in a trafic Jam due to accident, My Tuscan 4.0 took exception and started to emit Steam from the front Vents (offside). Tempreature was only 96. I have noticed that it has done this before but seems to be becoming more frequent. I am hoping that it may just be a loose hose clip but before I start delving was wondering what else I should be looking for. I have noticed that there is an overflow pipe of somekind at the offside front and was wondering if there was some kind of pressure reliefe valve around that area.

TIA
Roy.

mine does this if you fill it to the correct level.I work in london so get stuck in traffic all the time.
My experience is dont fill it to high let the level run a bit lower and it wont do it.As i said i have been stuck in traffic for long periods of time (blackwall tunnel) with no problems temp gauge reads ok,heater still runs hot and fans cut in and out as you would expect.
Unless you think there is a problem keep an eye on the water and oil temp other than that dont worry.

Thanks for that, I think you may be right as I had just topped the water up and that's more an art...
Out of interest what temps do you reach while in the traffic. R

Mine scared the life out of me the other day (only had it a week!)
Ironically, I had just had the bonnet off to have a look-see, and had just topped the water up to about 30mm below the filler-top.
Went out for a(nother!) blast. Parked up on the drive, then shortly noticed the puddle

Cue frantic bonnet back off, check everything, worry, worry some more, etc.

Re-read the manual about water levels, re-checked when cold. Hasn't done it since.

Unless I get stuck in slow traffic for an hour or more water does not rise much above 94/5 oil about 85/88 but once had water up to 102 with no steam. As soon as traffic clears all returns to normal

Haven't seen the coolant go above 96. Think the fans cut in about then.
Admittedly, have only had the car for a short while and apart from the (busy) motorway drive back from Derby where I bought it, it hasn't been 'stuck in traffic' on a hot day yet.
When it wet itself(!), as previously mentioned, the coolant temp did not go above 85ish.

Thanks for all the info, think I will leave it for a while and keep an eye on the water level before I start to pull things apart. R.

I've seen my water temp hit 99C before whilst in stationary traffic on a hot day. The fans were both on at the time. After a tiny movement in traffic (say 20 yards and back to a standstill) the water temp dropped to 85C. I've no idea why such a sudden drop in temp reading would occur, so I guess I'm just waiting for a "they all do that" comment and I won't be concerned should it happen again.
