Lucas distributor cap screw in acorns

Here's one for the 'anoraks' perhaps. I have a Daimler SP250 with the screw in acorn plug leads into the distributor cap. Does anyone know if these acorns come in different thread types/sizes?

I recently got a set of new plug leads and the acorns supplied won't screw into the distributor cap.

I wouldnt have thought so unless continentals used a different thread but I dont think Ive ever seen a non British manufactured car with these type leads. I started in the motor trade in 1975 and these type off leads were pretty old hat then.

All the Lucas caps with acorns I`ve seen are like this

You thread the acorn onto a plug lead and then attach the little washer to the inner wire.
