I've been following Stronglifts 5x5 for a little while now. Squatting 92.5kg, overhead pressing 50kg benching 70kg so not mega numbers but good progress for myself and I'm slowly moving forward! I've recently trashed my elbow (maybe lifting related) which I need to get checked out but either way I'm guessing I'm going to have to take time out from Stronglifts! frown

I thought I'd use this time to keep moving forward and work on something that I really need to, flexibility!
I like the Stronglifts app because it works and is so easy to follow. Does anybody know so so,etching simular but for flexibility? Passive stretches etc? Or just any advice in general...

+1 - the one I used to go to had really flexible ladies covering 3/4rs of the floor, then in the corner was a small group of blokes who could not reach their toes. It did help, and I got about 5 cm closer to my toes over time! (still got 20cm to go.....)

Or Pilates - good for core strength.
The classes near me are very popular, you have to book/pay in advance and it's like getting tickets for a Queen reunion concert.

I've done yoga a pilates recently, some classes will do both, one class I do combines tai-chi, yoga and pilates

I like yoga best, Pilates is good, but is very subtle and applies more to the back and pelvis.

Yoga might appear girly, but it complements weights and most other physical activities really well, I find its much better than general stretching . In fact recently I have dropped weights and just tend to concentrate on Yoga positions that work on upper body strength, such as the Crow, which is bloody hard at first.

One issue with gymnastics etc is that you have to categorise the moves into either strength or skill moves. Of course, there will be an element of both in every move but some are more balance-based (skill) and some are more strength. Eg handstand is primarily a skill move, front lever a strength move.
