Washed the Cerb today, had bonnet up while on tickover
could smell petrol, had a look at fuel pipes and one was wet !

Switched engine off and leak subsided, pressure in pipe no doubt.
Upon closer inspection, there was a little line along the pipe, easier to feel than view.
Only a 1998 car, low grade fuel pipe ?
Please check yours before its too late !
Fuel pipe spec is Gates fuel 7 x 13, maybe yours is fitted with the same.

My faulty pipe ran from fuel cooler (near front pulleys) to below the Radiator header tank (top up)

Sounds like a very similar problem I encountered last summer www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?f=6&h=&t=115653

Frightened the daylights out of me. Why the fuel pipe passed so close to the fan belt I'll never know. Good old AA man re-routed it well away from the fan belt and Austec have subsequently replaced the pipe.
