I've been hacked. My default page on IE is now something called 'about:blank' and is some sort of search engine. I've tried resetting it through 'Tools' 'Internet Options' but it resets to 'about:blank' as soon as I restart IE. I've tried restoring to an earlier day in Windows XP Restore but that didn't help. I've used AVG to seek out what ever is resetting my IE default but that finds nothing.

Is there anything I can do to stop this from controlling me IE options?

The only thing I've done today is install the IE spell checker www.iespell.com/ but that has now been uninstalled and I'm sure it wasn't the source of infection anyway.

sounds like () spyware, try these threads from Computers and stuff

...

all those problems spawn from using Internet Explorer, you could try using firefox instead (www.mozilla.org/products/firefox ), these links explain why:
