A 20k "investment" defender?

Afternoon,
I, until recently had a 2008 110 utility XS, and loved it!
However at the time we were buying a house and it had to go, despite only having had it for about a year, and putting about 10k miles on it, I sold it for more than I purchsed it for, which made me happy.
I now have about 20k in the bank earning no interest, and I need a 2nd vehicle to pootle about in for a few months, so rather than buy a £5k discovery and leave the 20k in the bank, im wondering if its worth buying a decent spec defender, using it for a few months, and if I sold it for the same again, or even a little more, that would be great.
Is there any distance in doing this, or have prices stopped, or even have potential to go down?
If so, what’s the one to go for, the most desirable?

The LWBs will run at a premium as the earlier 110s can seat 12, which means they have certain advantages some cities...
They are charismatic cars, and great if you want to move 10 people across a field whilst towing a ton of trailer (use them for commercial ballooning). They're not as unreliable as people make out, particularly considering how they are able to be used. The LR isn't particularly comfortable, and are noisy and bouncy. If you want something to use mainly on the road, go for the discovery.
I think they are overcooked money wise at the moment.

I've seen one with Twisted upgrades (spec below) for just under £20k. My plan would be to continue with further Twisted upgrades as an ongoing project.
Is this something that is likely to go up in value? Even if it is relevant to what I spend on improvements?

In answer to the original post, you might make a quick buck through buying in the summer and selling in the winter, especially when there is is snow on the ground. Several garages actually store the defenders over the summer and wheel them out in the winter.
I'm starting to think that the Defender bubble will eventually burst. Its getting daft when people want £5k for a battered 90 with the old rattly 19J TD engine in it.
Something with 0 chequer plate.
honestly i'd stay away from something like posted above 'with twisted upgrades' - highly likely bought and fitted the stuff himself, half of whats advertised isn't sold by twisted..
they are terrible for corroding, my garage stored, used 6 months of the year defender had tons of work done under corrosion warranty... at the moment its ok miraculously

+1 for the 50th Anniversary Defenders, had one for nearly 10 years now in pretty much daily use, a bit thirsty on fuel but worth it.
With a limited production run, factory V8, Automatic, etc. they've been heading up in value for years. £20k is pretty much entry level on these now, a quick look in the usual places and £29,950 is the cheapest on the market just now.
More importantly from an investment point of view might be that they're all 20 years old now and at 25 they can be exported to the USA where Defenders change hands north of $100K so their appeal is not just limited to the UK market.
