There's a Gatso on the A46 just after the road turns into a dual carriageway on the downhill section into Bath.

Does anyone know if this camera is active?

I just went past it (50 zone) without realising it was there at some speed north of that at night. I didn't see any flash but I wasn't really looking for one.

Would I see a Gatso flash if looking forwards?

I'm expecting a long 2 week wait looking at the post every day

When did they switch them back on?

I definitely didn't see a flash. Could it be that only Lane 1 is covered by the Gatso?

I went back for a closer look later at night and whilst doing so a car overtaking me went past the camera at 70+. I looked out for a flash this time and there wasn't one.

I've also noticed the white camera lines in Lane 2 are totally faded out.

Clinging on to hope!

They haven't. If its an old Gatso (IIRC it is) that requires film in it to work, they are not in use. There's only two fixed camera sites in BANES that work, see link below......

Yeah, that's is an old style film based camera. Won't flash if it isn't taking a photo. So you might get lucky if it didn't flash.

No flash, and they won't have got a decent photo at night anyway, so you should be ok.

Not sure about BNES, but in north Somerset only one camera is active. They've left all the other cameras in place but they aren't in use. Some now have green crap and grime all over them.

That is what I thought, the vehicle before me *cough* accidently went past them both a couple months ago at 60mph with no flash and nothing heard
