Sagaris in Autocar / vs M400
Discussion
Anyone read it yet?
A good positive write up although I'm slightly disappointed they decided to compare it to the Noble M400 and therefore dedicated 50% of a small article to a car we've been reading about in Autocar (and they're big fans of it) for a good while.
Still, the Sagaris really does the look the badger's nadgers especially next to the Noble. Specs seem impressive too (1078kg, 406bhp and 349 lb ft
)
I can scan the article later if anyone (people abroad) wants it although I don't want steal Autocar's thunder.

I'm not sure I believe the weight claim either and the 0-100 time was a guess based around the prototype (the plan was for lighter weight body work) the straight line performance should be identical to a tuscan S.
I agree the write up was a bit gushy over the noble (they've already voted it their performance car of the year, so, 'kinda heard that already') but trying to read through this the report does seem very positive overall. It seems they reckon it's the best built, best handling tvr ever. What they didn't mention is that (ok to me) the tvr is a work of out inside and out whereas the noble is a kit car inside and out. I'm sure it's a great drive but I wouldn't choose to spend hours looking at one in my garage. Yes I'm biased but I'm happy I'm getting a Sagaris not a Noble. Fair play to anyone who thinks the opposite!

Having just driven a Sagaris around Silverstone (courtesy of Silverstone TVR) I think the Sagaris is great. I think they might have polished a bit of TVRness out of the driving experience in this new model (bit like newer 911s becoming more sanitised), but the looks and performance figures more than make up for it. I didn't exactly get a chance to drive on the limit (knowing where the track goes helps with that) but it felt a lot more composed than a T350 on the track and felt like it would show a Noble M400 how to drive rapidly down your average British country lane.
Hi TVR spirit,
I do own a ZX12r which I bought new in 2000. I rode it to Gatwick tvr today in fact to look at my Sagaris.
It is a disturbingly quick bike and more than a match for the modern 1000's which are a bit too small for my gangly frame (think ruben xaus without the talent!).
In fact I had a go against an 04 fireblade this weekend and I've definitely got a bit more top end power than he had, unless he wasn't using all his rev range (it certainly looked like he did). So I would like to think my bike is on the pace with the zx10. It's not standard I should add, a power commander and full acropovic exhaust plus k&n air filter produced over 180 bhp on a dyno. That's a back wheel figure!!
Having said all that I'd love to try a zx10 soon and I'm a massive fan of the bike. It was so impressive last year in BSB and I noticed it got another podium from Glen Richards yesterday at brands hatch - incredible given the budget compared to the other teams.
I just can't bring myself to part with my 12r just yet. I haven't yet seen the magic 200mph (320kmh) but I've got pretty close and I'd never be able to reach that on a zx10. Once it's done however I might think again about getting a 'slower' bike for trackdays!
Do you do any UK trackdays? Let me know if you're going to one and I'll bring the '12' along and we'll find out which has more straight line speed!
SORRY! off topic. Where was I, oh yes Sagaris - work of genius, Noble - blah, blah, whatever

The Sagaris makes the Noble look dated... after seeing them side by side at my dealership and driven them back to back i have no hesitatation in saying the Sag seemed so much more refined and drivable in the real world... and much better value too! i'm not biased either as i've owned a Noble too! incredible car..
Just read the Autocar article.. seems the M400 was their favourite fast car and their car of the year last year... but the Sag measured up very well being a better all rounder, a lot quicker through the turns and they even said nothing on four wheels bar a rally cross car could overtake a flat out Sagaris!
It's obvious Autocar were showing favouritism towards the Noble in other respects like straight line performance and brakes but in the real world where it matters the Tvr would excel...
They also failed to mention the all important warranty issue.. which brings me to a conclusive verdict Tvr 3yrs ugly Noble 1yr..

Looks like the Sagaris will be the new bench mark.. obviously the critics will be trying their upmost best to fault it! but i think they might have their work cut out with this one! makes the Noble look like a cheap kit car IMHO.. can't wait to read everyone else's articles now especially the ones which show no favouratism...a trully awesome car!
I liked the article, it gave something to just the Sagaris against.
I read it as the Noble was the better track car, the Sagaris the better road car. The Sagaris looks far far better, it is more usable and practical and as it says...it takes your adrenalin to whole new levels.
Yes the Noble is outright faster in a straight line and connects u closer in the ultimate feel, but the TVR infuses your other senses with stuff the Noble cant even hope to.
So effectively horses for courses, but I know which one me as a 12yo boy actively *wants* more...and it aint made in South Africa!

I read that as 'even if it was quicker through the corners the noble would reel it back in on the straights'. I didn't think they were saying it was quicker round the corners just using it to describe the Noble's straight line advantage. Having driven a Sagaris the Noble must be violently fast!
But journalists are known to exaggerate every now and then and I bet the real world difference is very small.

kickass said:That's because Noble have taken previous Lotus design cues from over the last 10-15 years and moulded them into their car, it's part Lotus Esprit and part Lotus M250 (even the names the same only more!) and there's something of the MK1 Elise in the nose.
The Sagaris makes the Noble look dated...
The TVR Sagaris on the other hand is entirely original shape that is brings TVR bang slap into the 21stC ! Rich...Gassing Station | Tamora, T350 & Sagaris | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
