Evening!

Just wondering if anyone works within DPD at a management level?

We have had a bit of an issue recently with 2 accounts we hold with DPD and DPD Local (formally Interlink)

Just looking for some help with the matter.

Or if anyone else has noticed there getting harder to use?
Once upon a time there service was the best. Sadly not so much anymore

What issues are you having? We have recently put most of eggs on one Interlink basket so would be interested to hear.

It's slipped a lot, a lot of people are complaining.

Not one of the drivers in the town i work have English as their first language, they pay barely above minimum wage. Their delivery slot times are still good but the service in general has gone downhill.

We basically fell out with our account manger due to her Coming to my office in invited with 3 other dpd sales people and acting as if we should make time for a meeting immidetly when I was not free.

We have since noticed them getting increasingly picky on what they want to ship despite our suppliers shipping the same products to us using dpd.

Things got worse two weeks ago when we were told off like school children for sending a post digger using them. We were warned not to do it again at 5pm the following day by which time we had shipped the same item again. (We have been shipping this product for years)
Next thing you know our account with dpd is shut which had an annual spend of 150k
But the my account manager who seems to just have a personal issue has also shut a b2b multi parcel account previously interlink which had no issues with an annual spend of 500k +

This all seems slightly silly for what I believe is an upset account manager who has the ass with us.

We have until the 21st to find a different courier which thankfully isn't an issue as we use them all already. It's just hard to stomach when I feel we have done very little wrong.

Nice to see there service is going down hill anyways.
If I could guess I would assume dpd just want to ship clothing and not much else

I appreciate it does not help the sender, but as a receiver I always feel more positive when something is being delivered by DPD. Their notification and tracking are incredibly helpful in my opinion.

I also have DPD deliver stuff to my home in France. Here, all the drivers speak French as their first language, but also think French when it comes to customer satisfaction.

Ive just moved from Interlink / DPD. After 3 years of great service, last 6 months have been poor, more damages, more hassle with claims and a rise in prices.

According to my pickup driver (who had been there 15 odd years and has also now left), all the drivers are now self employed so van costs etc come out of their wages. Our local dept changed the manual handling of parcels in / out of vans to automated conveyors which just happened to coincide with more damages. My account manager was next to useless in helping, infact was damn rude with a "dont like it then move" attitude. So I did.

Now with Parcelforce, better prices for larger stuff which DPD wouldnt take, although my account manager is worse than useless ive had no damage / missing parcels in the 3 months ive been with them

It would seem this is actually true, a customer of mine started shiping with them, 90% normal boxes of differing sizes but the other 10% were long irregular items up to 6ft, they took the business but after 3 months told them they don't want the irregulars anymore leaving my customer having to find someone to take these, not cheap when there is only 10 or 12 a day.

I work for hermes and i genuinely do believe we do a great job these days despite our past reputation! I'm sure I could put you in touch with the right people if you wanted as I know all the higher ups... send me a message if interested.

If i read that right you pay £650k a year? Account Manager should be treating you much much better for that sort of volume....

Sounds pretty much like DPD through and through. It's all about how you can fit in with them these days.

For the past 5/6 yrs they have been selling based on their reputation and technology. However the technology is nothing special at the moment and most are offering the same thing they do.

A lot of people are still blinded by the "superior" service they offer but it is nothing special these days and their service levels are no higher than Yodel and UK Mail for example.

I worked in the courier industry for 15 yrs in sales and account management and spent 5yrs at UPS and at some various resellers and other companies. I am now in global logistics freight air and ocean and there is no way that I will ever go back to the courier world.

The pressure on the sales staff is incredible it's just all about new new revenue and business and forgetting about the long standing customers and any form of account management and relationships and long term partnerships.

See your based in East Anglia, you looked at Parcelhub? HQ is Nottingham but they have a branch in East Anglia.

Great service and customer services and the account management team are fantastic.

We use my Hermes already
Your willing to take a lot of our random items no one else will touch.

Things have taken an even bigger dive tonight
One of our long term suppliers for who we are a national account to had had 3 parcels held at our local depot coming to me due to having dangerous goods... now I'm no courier specialist but all the boxes have is a mix of DIY hand tools in and none are over 10kg in weight
We have had said items being shipped to us for the past 3 years with no issues. Now all of a sudden when the raunds dpd depot seems to not like us they hold our in coming goods as well.
Now my supplier is probs sending 3-4000 parceld daily with dpd and they have told me the only goods held over the past 24hr were mine! Really does make me feel this is a personal issue. It's now causing a bit of a headache as stock was needed for orders leaving today. Meaning I'm happy customers 😩😤😵

We were sending half APC and half DPD.

Had a chat with them and they reduced their prices to match APC (which are dirt cheap).

However service has had a couple of hiccups however put that down to the extra volume however much better than APC imo.

We have large display boxes we send and EVERY one gets damaged by DPD so we send those with someone else. Apart from that great prices and on the whole pretty good. (main excuse is a drivers scanner goes down).

No, Hermes really don't. Hermes' problem is the delivery drivers. They don't get paid if they don't deliver it so they will think nothing of throwing it over a wall into your garden pond or leaving it at some random property 200 yards away - anything as long as they don't have to take it back to the depot. Sadly this is no longer something that's unique to Hermes as a lot of the other parcel companies do it now too.

We hold an account with UPS. Very good company, with great drivers, and great delivery. Prices are good enough.

Only about 20k a year here though, so price is not so critical

I'd echo this, there is still a long way to go. For instance, my latest delivery from Hermes didn't turn up the day it was out for delivery, yet the tracking suggested they'd tried - I was in all day. When it did show up the following day the package reeked of smoke.

Hermes might have improved things from the sender end, but I'd say it was still somewhat lacking when it comes to the final delivery.

As a receiver I would avoid ordering from anyone using UPS. By far the worst of a bad bunch.

I always liked receiving parcels from DPD, there was a good local driver and the 1 hour window and van tracking was very useful. The driver has left though, as he did not like the changes being made there. The last parcel I was due to receive ended having 2 failed attempts at delivery at a house 12 miles away, even though the address and postcode was correct on the parcel! Took a long time and lots of chasing to find out what had happened, but it seems that one of the drivers "re-coded" the location of my address to another town on their internal routing system (I think due to a grudge). I could even watch the progress of the driver heading there on their tracking system...

Needless to say I now try to avoid using DPD.

DPD - useless for me.

Need a part for a car, for an MOT 9am Monday morning.

Order it on Monday, told it will be delivered on Wednesday, It's Friday and I now have to drive for an hour (further than from the place I actually bought it from) tomorrow.

Not massively impressed.

No explanation as to why it wasn't delivered on Weds or Thurs. I was sat outside the house during the delivery window of 11:30am - 12:30pm today. Nothing and then I chase it up and at 12:39pm it's declared that the driver couldn't find the address.

bks.

It's a normal road, off a main A-Road, on all satnavs/Google maps etc... never had a single issue.

Massive inconvenience for me.

My guess he took too long for lunch and I was the sacrifice.

wkers.
