Golf R hatch v estate
Discussion
I've the manual hatch and love it. The gear change isn't as slick as my ST that I had before. Maybe I'm just a fan of the Ford's gear change. Although my other car is a MK1 MX5 and perhaps the Golf doesn't compare to these two. It's in no way a deal breaker if you prefer a manual though imo.

Anyone discovered how the exhaust is set up on the facelift estate? Annoying that they didn't bother connecting up 2 of the 4 exhaust tips on the pre-facelift estate.
Ive been told by a youtube review blogger this morning, that the face lift estate still hasnt sorted out the exhaust con. However the estate now does come with the LED rear lights as apposed to bulbs on the pre-facelift estateTwentymac said:

I am on the VWROC forum and the 7.5 estate pipes are all connected I am told by the guys on there. I have the mk7 R estate and hate the 2 unconnected tips, winds me up. Am upgrading to the Remus system soon, for improved sound too.
As mentioned before, if you aren’t worried about space then go for the hatch, the boot is tiny. It sounds weird, but I really prefer the looks of the estate over the hatch and I would definitely make the same decision again. It’s plenty quick, fun and also super-practical.

[quote] According the forum chatter, the exhaust is now fully connected on the facelift estate.I'm in the market for a 7.5 estate and there aren't any obvious differences in spec that I've found between the hatch and estate.

If anyone still cares and hasn't already found the answer, I had a look at an R estate in my local dealer today, and it did look as if all four exhaust tips are now connected.

they are indeed.
Also (pretty sure I am correct) the estate does not have the exhaust flaps the hatchback has (I know the 7 had flaps in the exhaust for the hatch).
I have not seen the exhaust for the 7.5 hatch - so I do not know if this still has the flaps or not to alter the sound.
Some have said the estate sounds better.
It does sound quite good on a cold start up (well certainly compared to my diesel)!
