I generally didn't bother taking my phone in the gym but have got some fantastic Bluetooth headphones and they make it much less annoying and to be honest the gym plays the same 20 or songs on a loop and it is middle of the road low grade chart R and B toss.

So, am in the process of creating some Spotify playlists, so would like your suggestions for good workout type music, the benefit of having some decent tunes playing when you are lifting is not to be underestimated, but you know thatanyway.

So, come on, suggestions for my playlists please !

If you are streaming then you can just search for stuff on youtube - there's loads of training music compilations on there. Just load one up and crack on.

Failing that - I'll start you off with Pretender from Foo Fighters cool

Cardio work outs or lifting weights?

If the former, then this: https://soundcloud.com/darkniven/paul-oakenfold-es...

Otherwise a compilation of: Five Finger Death Punch - https://youtu.be/mjl1wInqo1Y or https://youtu.be/HCBPmxiVMKk?t=1m24s
Rage Against the Machines - https://youtu.be/bWXazVhlyxQ or https://youtu.be/wauzrPn0cfg
Disturbed - https://youtu.be/L78yVFeyvRo
Slipknot - https://youtu.be/5abamRO41fE
Marilyn Mason - https://youtu.be/Ypkv0HeUvTc

Or if you want Motivation - CT Fletcher - https://youtu.be/JHiKDa4ip_Q and https://youtu.be/Jg_rV4wXp3Q

Weights mainly.

Taste wise, anything really, just needs to be suitable for working out to, i.e. not the Smiths or anything downbeat.

Generally the dancier end I guess,

Gravitating to 80s and 90s stuff currently but open to any suggestions.

Prodigy or Chemical brothers may do the job for you.

(My current preference is bands like Slayer, Metalica, Death and similar Metal)

One session I listened to "You're the Best" by Joe Esposito on repeat for 2 hours......

Got Glint by the Chemical Brothers has made the list already.

Prodigy.

Might throw a bit of Megadeth in there, Hanger 18 is a good one.

This is a bit of an odd one, quick beat, but a 80's rock feel to it

Depends on your taste. I like 4/4 beat dance music as it has a feeling of "unbroken flow" to it which I can latch onto and then seems to carry me through my workout.

20 years ago I used to train in a proper spit and sawdust sort of gym. You knew when the gym owner and his equally massive mates were going to start training when Metallica came on at an earth shattering volume.

I still have a bit of 'tallica sprinkled throughout my workout playlist.

So that's my contribution

If you're on Spotify already there are a few playlists already set up you can follow that are pretty good depending on your music preference.

If you search for Gymshark you'll get their sponsored athlete playlists.

I just tend to put an Amazon Music playlist on when I do spinning - means all the music is at the right kind of tempo.

I rarely listen to specific music nowadays just pick a playlist which matches my activity or mood.

I'm currently swapping between a mix of Sepultura, Slayer, Heart of a coward, Bury tomorrow, Suicide silence and Podcasts. 2 Good ones for the gym are Keeping the rave alive By Kutski (New episode every Friday and hundreds of old ones available) and Evil activities (https://itunes.apple.com/au/podcast/evil-activities-presents-extreme/id499343215?mt=2)
