I am in the process of replacing a 350i engine with a Chim 400. I have the Chim engine wiring loom hot wire AFM and 14CUX ECU, but there are a few differences between the original electrical system which was a 4CU ECU. Does anyone have experience of this type of change, how the Chim wiring loom will interface with the 350 wiring, and in particular if the idle stepper motor can be retained.
Hoping someone can save me some time interfacing the 2 systems.

Last year I swapped my flapper setup to hotwire after buying this from ebay:
Complete working Rover V8 3.9 EFi hot wire injection system off 1991 Discovery. Includes plenum chamber and inlet manifold assembly with injectors and fuel rail, 14CUX ECU, Lucas airflow meter and undamaged EFi loom.

I followed his instructions and found it relatively easy to set up.
I found some notes on the wiring changes:
Connect permanent 12V to thick brown wire on main connector battery supply via fuse
Fuel pump power supply to white/purple from main connector
Earth wires to motor frame
Single wire with spade connector to -V on coil
Ignition supply white/grey from main connector to +12V op coil
The ISCV is in the hotwire loom.

Hi Stewart,
Upgrade going slower than expected due to Me getting sidetracked by the horrible wiring in My car. Once all the old engine parts were removed and the new manifold and throttle body were installed , I pulled back all the original wiring from the engine bay into the footwell to see what could be removed. Quite simple to get rid of a great big heap of Ecu and injector wires. Had a few wires to rejoin then I started to find wires that seemed to go nowhere so couldn't just leave them hanging around ,had to trace them and remove if possible.
This is the kind of thing I have been finding under the insulation tape.....

Currently have dash completely out as found a switch that did nothing so remaking the whole thing.
My car is a long way from original so no qualms about changing stuff on it.
I will try and keep updates coming but get fed up with the negative posts so think why bother .

Ha! At least they were soldered. I did similar on a much smaller scale and kept finding dry twisted joints - not the lineman type twist, just a finger twist.Upgrade going slower than expected due to Me getting sidetracked by the horrible wiring in My car. Dash is not too hard to sort out as most wires go back to one big multi connector and a lot of them are just +ve and -ve to the dials. When You first pull the dash out and see the great forest of tangled cr*p behind it , makes You think "l'll just put this back". 
Yes my footwell looks just the same, priority is to get the engine to run first before I attack the wiring, but although the pump is running and I have a spark, no fuel at the moment. Happy days.
