Remote Boot Release

I know this has been done before, but I can't find an answer and I just need one quick answer to a question...

My alarm has a 200ma - output to trigger the boot release, although the manual warns not link it direct with the sloenoid.

So, do I need a relay for this? If so just a normal 5 pin cross over one?

At least I've come to no harm over the last few days - somebody suggested I earth myself before starting to mess about - cue a VERY long piece of wire - one end connected to a radiator in the house and the other to my wrist
