Starting a new series - featuring an Audi Quattro UR Turbo
Discussion
Hi all,
So I have been filming car events and other random car things since about September last year. It's just a hobby, I already had all my camera gear etc and I found it a good excuse to get out, meet people as well as improve my filming and video editing!
Its all been fun but I have found filming events to be getting a little samesy. I had a go at some car reviews too but I am not much of a presenter!
So more recently I came up with a slightly different idea where by I get the owners of the car itself to almost review their own car. Therefore you have someone who has built/maintained or just drives the car daily to give you there thoughts as well as a bit of history etc of the car itself.
I am calling the series Cars & Keepers and I have put together the first episode this week whichc can be found: https://youtu.be/mxRgTTJuQGQ
I know technically there are a few bits that need to be addressed and its all things I will work on as I progress through the series. Equally though I welcome any feedback especially relating to the format of the video.
TIA Nick

Thanks all, yes far from perfect but this was a new concept for me and the owner is certainly not an actor and everything you see was from a single take! I really like the idea though and looking forward to doing some more with hopefully some more interesting cars.
I think the owner done pretty well, and I like the genuineness of his words. It will be interesting to see how future shoots go though as I have nothing ro compare it to at present!

You could compare it with professional videos, the sort of thing you see on TV, if you like. It depends utterly on where you are going with this, is it just a fun/personal development thing or do you want to attract viewers with the entertainment value of your videos?

It's always been more personal development but if I can interest and entertain people along the way then fantstic! I do want to keep it real too and not have it come across too commercial if that makes sense?
Videos with this subject matter are never going to appeal to a general audience but keep producing work at this level and you may well gain quite a few subscribers. In my opinion people often think that all they have to do is to produce good camera work and interesting subject matter but I disagree. It's engagement with the audience that will get and keep viewers and that engagement comes from words and faces. Look at any successful work and you will hear and see plenty of both, no matter how interesting the cars are (or whatever else the subject is). Hence my earlier comment about the dark glasses. If you'd managed to get him to take them off you would have really been on to something. It's not really the car (or whatever) that's interesting, it's how the people involved feel about it. If you watch any reality tv such as the baking thing, i;s not the cakes that matter, it's the faces and the reactions. Hence all the interviews, talking to camera, and reaction shots.

Thanks again for your time and feedback as with everyone else it is hugely appreciated . I have another shoot planned for the 15th for the next one so I shall definitely take this onboard and see what we can do to try and get a more personal feel from it!
