I've just removed the extenders and fitted socks on the ignition leads of my 500 Griff, and I seem to recall having read that the plugs should be changed to resistive ones (I've got a note of BPR6EIX NGKs but I can't remember now if the note was in relation to this issue - it's an age thing!). Can anyone who has removed the extenders give me some guidance please. Thanks.

ETA: and what's the reason, noise suppression or summat more technical?

I've always been lead to believe one resistive element is required. Noise supression yes but I've heard other electric interference stories...not sure how relevant that may or may not be.

I run BPR6ES but many run hotter plugs. I removed my extenders and fitted socks for a while which were ok on the face of it but I've gone through a couple of sets of decent leads. I'm running the ceramic racetech leads now which are made to handle the manifold heat without using extenders....time will tell but so far so good.

Just to note mine is a chim 400 but turbo so mildly warm under the bonnet.

Glynn,
I started with NGK BPR6ES and now have the iridium version you mention, I've got the socks and moroso leads details of which I've posted before. No issues other than 8 kept popping off.
