In the last week I have had the following random emails about my car in the classifieds

1. Simply "Clean Title?

From a very suspicious email address

2. Simply " When to View"

From an email that doesn't exist.

and 3. this morning:

Simply "Accidents or Problems"

From an obviously fake email address.

What is going on here? anyone else have these?

"title" is an Americanism i think, meaning ownership. So clean title is the same as us saying no outstanding finance. I think.

Ok,

Ive had a few fake emails from Pistonheads telling me I need to log in to confirm my details.

But the email address is really moody, and the link is a spoof Pistonheads log in.

So they send a message showing interest, and then have your email address if you reply

There's a thread in website feedback with the same problem as you.

I've had a look at the emails you've received over the last few days and can confirm that these emails are designed to harvest email addresses. From there as you've seen, you will get a phishing email. These are sent straight to sender, so until we get an internal messaging system - we'd very much appreciate it if you could send the phishing emails onto us. This way we can get the website closed down as quick possible to prevent other less savvy users falling victim to the scam.
