Can't any one just enjoy it

What is it with all these people on the TVR forum. Are you incapable of just enjoying a car that many people only aspire to. Recently there have been several postings about xyz TVR against ne other car. Some people even admit to illegal street racing; with one poster claiming he would rather crash then let someone lose - even overtaking on bends. I have no problem with people racing on a track, or breaking the speed limit (well perhaps not 30 limits - appropriate speed etc).
I will freely admit to being a massive petrolhead and appreciate all kinds of cars (and boats and planes etc); but the pointless irresposible willy waving is concerning and disappointing. There are enough people out there who are opposed to performance cars without giving them more ammunition by such irresposible childish behavior.
What is wrong with enjoying your car for what it is, enjoying the drive, being polite to other road users and just being happy in the knowledge that (on paper at least) you are much quicker than most other peopleon the road.
These irresponsible morons are spoiling ownership for all, pushing up insurance premiums and getting a bad name for all owners. Frankly what is the point - ther is always someone with more power, more grip, less weight, more skill or better knowledge of the road. Eventually you will always lose.

ing morons is " grow up and act like a responsible adult, not some pubescent teenager; otherwise sooner or later you will kill someone."

I always seem to miss these threads! What racing?
Im always very careful I never specify what units Im measuring my speed in, I dont think some ppl realise that effectively you are giving evidence against yourself breaking the law when they talk about what speeds they did on here!
Racing is idiotic I agree, esp over taking on bends. The whole pt of having a Tiv is that you have thw power not to need to do that, but can pick your moments much more easily.
Motorway fun is a little different, but providing you are travelling in tandem at high speed, and not actually racing each other, cutting everybody up it shouldnt really be an issue. You are concentrating much harder and making much finer judgements.

cant say iv seen any posts about racing on the streets. maybe it was before i started looking.
I find the win at all costs attatude stupied.
I used to have a loverly (you could say race...but it was more a enjoyable) drive with man in rover 200 (old old one). it was along a very nice B road. we never attempted to overtake each other. kept safe distances and enjoyed a pacey (word lol) drive. He could obviously drive well. and we both seemed to have a respect for each other.
On the otherhand. a young lad over took me on a 30mph road. in a very dangerous place. I thought the car was stolen..so i went after it. he obviously had no idea what the car was doing under him. or the risks he took (plus he had 2 mates in the car) i was trying to get a good look at his number plate. but he thought i was racing him!!
. he then took a HUGE risk, and overtook a roundabout!!! this roundabout had traffic island in the center of the road either side. PLUS lead to a bend sortly after.
I couldnt believe what he did.. me and a old man on the pavement. just couldnt believe what we saw. i wish i got the numberplate. i really do. was worse driving than Police camera action!!

...YPOne thread in god knows how many is not representative of PH as a whole.
In the many meets I have attended I have met many PH'ers with all manner of motors, not just TVR's. I have found PH'ers in the main to be polite, sensible hard working car enthusiasts who enjoy their hobby and like their personalities their driving is most definately adult, polite and respectful.
On any internet forum you are going to get an element of the unsilent minority but please dont tar us all with the same brush eh? I am yet to come accross the sort of person you describe. I am not saying that they dont exist but within the PH community they are most definately few and far between. That is a testament to the site itself and I would profer the general sociodemographic profile of people who frequent these hallowed pages...

I find most people on PH cherish their kit too much to take massive risks.
I like a spirited drive as much as the next man but to say that PH promotes the kind of mentality you speak of is quite unfair I feel.
In fact this is the first time I've ever heard anyone say anything negative about this site.

I have posted about seeing overtaking manouevres that owe more to testosterone than observation on PH before now.
They were aimed at a certain Mini driver.
If you have the performance to blow away 99% of cars you're likely to meet, you are quite capable of letting pillocks get on with it.
