Plaster cast too loose? Ankle surgery
Discussion
Hi folks I received complete ligament reconstruction on my ankle last Thursday (9 days ago)
I was put in plaster cast which from the toes up to my ankle was kind of horse shoe shaped plaster with a small channel down the muddle then higher up it was a full circle of plaster right round my calf. It never really felt that tight from the beginning- I said that to the surgeon on release and he had a good feel and said it felt just how he wanted it.
Today I have noticed a lot more movement in it and it can slip up and down maybe an inch, plus I can easy get 4 fingers in the top.
I called the Surgeons secretary and she said that he won't be back to Monday and that the plaster room is not open at the weekend.
The surgeon had said that if I needed a new cast early he wants to do it personallu so he can set my foot at an angle he is happy with.
Since speaking to the secretary this evening it feels looser still, do I call NHS 24 and try and get a new cast somewhere or wait to Monday to speak to my surgeon? Is it loose or has swelling maybe gone down tricking me in to thinking I need a new Cast?
Will the surgeon be annoyed if I get a new cast on tomorrow in an position he is not happy with?
I was due stitches out and my 1st change on Wednesday morning, silly to hold out to then?
Not sure what to do for the best?
