the rust is on the outside there is non in the sills or the front rear valance - under the carpets is clean and the boot/spare wheel well is rust free - gonna try and start it this weekend - it went into the barn working apparently. I just dont think its worth spending money out on a respray right now its not worth it but i will get it working and maybe MoT it and then chuck it back in the garage along with all the other toys ...

Before you start it you might want to put a timing belt on it. I imagine sitting so long hasn't done it any favours.

I have a 2.7 version. Look behind the wheel arch protectors and at the front chassis rails. Both are good places to find rust.

I am thinking of breaking mine if you need any parts.

I think that looks pretty slick, BMWs can be modified in such a clean way...great to see.

Indeed, I think your friend's car has broken suspension.

Isle of Wight car? Blackwater service station? Must be one of the first E28s?

Just had the K jet unit refurbished. This should allow the car to run now. Not done anything else other than remove sludge from the cooling system and clean it.

Thread revival

Well not done much at all to this for all sorts of reasons BUT looks like we are getting somewhere. Had a new fuel tank and fuel lines, rebuilt brake cylinder and a new clutch cylinder. All the coolant hoses and hydraulic pipes replaced, new fluids, got a chap in to bugger about with the rebuilt KJet and get the car running better which was a success, new tyres and brakes and it went for an MoT yesterday. Now it does not need one but I just wanted to get something on paper to say that it was roadworthy as its been off the road so long. Two fails main one being the offside outer headlight basic needs replacing. Few advisories but nothing too serious. I have insured it with 3 other vehicles on my Footman James policy for an extra £45. Went to the post office today to get my free tax but slight hiccup with the log book as its not on there as historic. But I think we are there.

Nice old things. I remember looking at one in 2005 but went with an E34 525i instead. Much missed and BMW certainly don't make them like they used to as my E90 will confirm censored
