Pathetic !

It's always somebody else's fault nowadays.

If he hadn't been caught at 110 mph ,presumably he would have carried on with the bald tyres for another week or two ?....rolleyes

What I find strange is this new need for the police to be tweeting for everything they do.

I assume they catch people doing wrong things, that is their job, so what is the point of then tweeting? Will other Maserati drivers go and check their tyres now?

No doubt others will disagree but just because you can do something doesn't mean you should do it.

I kind of agree, but rightly or wrongly we have a lot of people who don't even know how to check their tyres or fluids or who probably even give it a second thought as it's part of the service or MOT etc.

It's a cliche but if it makes one or two go out and take a look it's a good thing IMO.

Why not? You aside, lots of people like to know about these kind of stops. If we don't tweet the good results the only press the Police get is bashing from the Daily Fail.

Maybe it could be an education angle as well, as another poster said not many people know to do the checks now and most will think a MOT is it's yearly service etc. Hopefully with the focus today's youth have on social media this sort of thing will help get them to do the basics to avoid the worst happening involving us who do know what we are doing.

Exactly, unless all those thousands of followers are wrong of course.

TBh I think tweeting is a good idea if it makes just one person think twice about being a dick

A one year old car with those tyres ... he must either do a lot of track days or done a fair few miles in that year.

I don't think it is just me to be honest. It just strikes me as the "in thing" just like when management were all told you must have a mission statement. Every to bit company had some nonsensical form of words which meant nothing at all.

Fast forward to now and every government department and many companies now spend money employing people to tweet or have a facebook page updated. I would rather the money was spent on a police officer than a tweeter. Falling crime is the best judge of how well you do not a witty tweet

How many followers does Lily Allen have? I would guess a dam sight more than the police and if they believe her they are by your logic making what she tweets worthwhile?

We don't have people employed to tweet? We do have a corporate coms department that cover everything media related but our twitter accounts are used by officers on the front line. I tweet too, It takes 5 seconds to type a tweet. If the public are interested in what we do (And they are if you take into consideration the number of damn police shows on TV) then why not send a quick tweet while waiting for recovery for a vehicle or parked up waiting for something? Police are not going to be sat in someones lounge sending a tweet during a domestic! But when we can, I don't see how sending a tweet will stop crime falling?
