Dentists - root canal

Hi
Went to dentists on Thursday with some tooth pain. Its a front tooth at the bottom.
He cleaned around it incase it was just some jammed food or something (my gums are not great anyway) but said if pain persists then probably a nerve problem and I will need anti biotics and a root canal done. I have RC done before and I know the symptoms.
The next day the pain did not subsist so he has given me 7 days of anti biotics and to go back on Thursday for part 1 of the RC treament.
It seems fairly normal to follow this procedure of anti biotics - to give it time to do away with any bacteria before they do the RCT.
But can I insist they do it sooner like on Tuesday or Wednesday because the pain is getting worse?
Also as it needs 2 visits I;d rather try and get it all done within the week before having a long delay because of the Bank Holidays.
Or will he say that I must wait the full course of the anti biotics?
On a related note, I believe a RC on a front tooth is done by the back. This hopefully means the front tooth will look OK or will it almost certainly go brittle and need a crown in the future?

He did the clean in case it's a gum infection. Sometimes a gum infection can lead to an inflamed nerve but a nerve can get inflamed for other reasons also.
If it's an inflamed nerve causing the pain (do cold things make you jump up to the ceiling?) antibiotics will do sweet FA and the nerve needs to be removed ASAP to relieve the pain.
If it's a dead and infected tooth causing pain (cold doesn't hurt and may even help, hot hurts like a b
d, pain throbbing with heartbeat) then there may well be pressure in the tooth and opening the tooth up to let it out may also relieve the pain.Did he check the vitality of the tooth with a cold test?
Quite honestly, if you've been taking ABs since Thursday and the pain is worse, it's probably not just a gum infection and either it's the nerve so this just needs to be removed or there's pressure in the tooth building up and this needs to be relieved by opening the tooth.
I've never understood why RCT needs two visits in the UK and I'd love someone to explain this to me!
Access is from the back as you say and if the tooth is not broken down there's probably no need for a crown.

I have been on AB since Friday. I want to get the RC done on Tuesday if I can as opposed to Thursday.
He did do the cold test and there was some response but I already knew what the test was for so I wonder if it was psychological in my mind to some extent - i.e I wanted to feel the cold. He did also test a nearby good tooth and that had a much stronger sensation of cold.
I am pretty sure the tooth is past it now - as you say it now feels good if I put cold on it and cannot drink hot drinks.
My question is, will he want me to finish the course of AB so higher chance of infection being gone or can I just insist he does the root cancel ASAP? The only reason I can think of to finish the AB is that if I have bacteria and they are not gone then a RC can disturb them and put into other parts of my body - although not sure how true this is. I don't have an abscess spot type thing yet.

The ABs are for any infection, I'd think. If there is no infection I don't think your need them.. I've had four RC's before and never had ABs before, only the one time.
I had no anaesthetic on one occasion. Apparently the nerve was dead, front tooth, and the dentist said I needed nothing for the pain. She was right, I felt nowt.

My dentist did my RCTs in one visit. Have the tooth opened, root removed and filled back up, then go for a wander about for a couple of hours whilst the magic machine makes the crown and come back in to have it superglued into your trap. I presume that a lot of surgeries don't have the facilities to make the crowns and have to have them made off site.The last crown I had was made to such close tolerances that when the dentist dry fitted it he struggled to get it back off the stump to apply the glue. A remarkable machine.
The only crown I had on a RC was when a British dentist refused to believe I'd had a RC done overseas in a back tooth, and insisted on drilling it out.....only to find it had been done. Then he charged me £150 for a crown.
Then he dropped a tool on my head........and later the receptionist girls downstairs laughed hilariously as they to already know he is a dick.
