Who are the up and comming any brits that could be the next generation of f1 stars for the UK. Lewis has a good few years in him but is nearer the end. Palmer I just do not rate. Who do we potentially cheer for next? Lando Norris? any others?

I'm usually pretty good at spotting young talent from club level. Remember watching Montoya, Hamilton, button, kimi (winter series formula Renault in An old spec car obliterate the field) ricciardo...vettel slipped under the radar...never stood out in junior formula....

...to me the next big thing is lando Norris....let's hope he is nurtured correctly and brought into f1 when he's ready and not to make a quick buck

I had thought Alex Lynn might have progressed. May yet still.

All the young cadet karters from my era ie the 8 year olds who were running top 15 ranked in s1 are now too old or almost missed their chance.

Oliver Rowland had some good results on a shoestring budget last year - he's in the Renault development program now.

Unbelievable I'm going to say this, but he needs to get a move on, at 24 he's getting a bit old...

Anyone here old enough to remember Racing for Britain?

A well intentioned but flawed attempt to raise money for aspiring British drivers - like an early form of crowdfunding. Brundle and Herbert were amongst some of the recipients.

I say flawed as I often felt that some of the drivers who got money didn't actually need it.

Yep. I was a supporter for a while.

I think Lando Norris is good as indeed is Senna Proctor, but the latter seems to have gone down the tin top route now. Alex Lynn seems to have progressed as far as he can now and the others are taking drives whereever they can find them. I always thought Sam Bird was unlucky - he's a very quick driver indeed but didn't ever have the financial backing. There are 3 teams on the gird whose young driver programmes mean sod all. The driver gets use of the gym, some kit and if he's lucky, some sim work. Oh and to hang around the pit garage like a spare part! In one case the drivers generally have to pay to join the scheme!

Perhaps we have been spoilt over the years having a top British driver in F1.

We might have a few years without any British drivers in the Championship once the current crop retire or get dropped.
