Since I've had the car it has suffered from a fuel starvation/misfire issue after tight right-hand corners/roundabouts. It's been a case of straighten the wheel cough, splutter and off we go again. This has got a lot worse today on the way home from Burghley and the last few miles were touch and go. More like cough splutter all the way.

The fuel pump has bacome a lot noiser and will have to be replaced. The questions are:-

1. Has the problem been caused all along by a failing pump, or
2. A faulty accumulator? Are these available?
3. Would a faulty accumulator cause the pump to fail by allowing it to run dry after corners?
4. What pump do I ask for at the motor factors?

Thanks in advance thumbup

How much?! yikes I don't want to replace that if I don't have to. Fuel pumps seem cheap enough though. 6 BAR = 87psi. Is that high enough?

Hi Joe

You don't really need the accumulator as the car will run without it but will need a 1/4 throttle to start...Do you have a swirl pot or just a "T" piece joining the two tanks supply to the pump?

I have a T-piece off the tube connecting the two tanks. The 15mm ID hose from the T-piece connects to the back of the pump. So are you saying I can connect the pump directly to the filter?

Hi Joe

I used to run mine from pump to bulkhead fuel filter to metering unit....Mine also used to cut out turning left and mine had a "T"...You might need a swirl pot/Reservoir....

The accumulator is more for hot starting...It holds fuel pressure for a short period but this can be overcome with 1/4 throttle...smile

Morning Guys.

I cant add much to this other than I have just ordered a new swirl pot from ACT after reports of cars cutting out without one.. also, a new fuel pump from KMI has been bought. I am not planning to fit an accumulator so will see how this works out when the 280 is running..
