Main Dealer Not Settled Finance

I part exchanged my BMW for a new one with a franchised dealer 2 weeks ago. The old car was on a pcp with BMW Finance, as is the new one.
A payment was due on the old car the following day so I agreed to make the payment which would apparently be refunded a few days later.
When I called the finance company last week they informed me that they could not refund as no settlement had been received. The dealer apologised for the oversight and told me on 5 April that the payment was done. It wasn't and as of today I still have 2 finance agreements but just 1 car.
I would add that BMW finance's efforts to speak with the business manager have failed, he didn't return their call.
Any ideas?
