Part number for Passat license plate holder

I'm looking to replace my German front license plate holder with a smaller Swiss one (license plate size 300 mm x 80 mm) on my 2012 Passat (B7). Currently it looks like this one and I'd like to get rid of the black plastic around it.

I've searched around, found this page and narrowed the part number down to a few options:

• 3AA 807 287
• 3AA 807 287 A (PR-6W4)
• 3AA 807 287 B (PR-6W3)
• 3AA 807 287 C (PR-6W4)
• 3AA 807 287 E (PR-6W4 and PR-6W7)

Unfortunately, I can't find what the differences between the 5 above are.
Do you know which one is the right size?

Looking at photos of Passats with the small licence plates (for example this one), maybe there isn't a holder and the frames are attached directly to the bumper?
