My front anti-roll bar drop links need replacing. GT-One are recommending sticking with OEM. Any recommendations?

Try and get cup ones or stay oem imo.

After market will clunk and wear out faster, it's just the GT3 TAX on drop links is shocking when you buy them !!!!

Lol, making my own might be a tad ambitious. I've discovered the following made by Tarett at Design 911. Anyone else have Tarett components (I would have preferred RSS as that's what I have on the rear, but can't find the part):

Tarett, RSS, elephant racing all about the same.

I have RSS on my Spyder and Tarrett on the GT4. when I had my GT3 though I went oem for the drop links.
I would still try and get the CUP parts if I were you for the 996 GT3.

some cup ones on ebay which is a turn up. they do quote 996 but then say 2008 though, depends if 996 and 997 GT3 cup were the same part.

Thanks. RSS currently not available from 9 Excellence, so the choice is Tarett vs Cup (trying to get a quote for the Cups at the mo).

ETA: ah, just saw your edit for the link to the Cup part. Appreciated.

Lots of questionable advice/views here ...... smile

So in the name of a bit of balance. Buy decent quality rose joints and they'll last a decent amount of time. Buy cheap rubbish and they'll last five minutes.
Better still, use the correct rubber boots with some decent grease lubricant (depending on the construction of the rose joints you use) and they'll last for ages.

No need to be fearful of making your own, it's very simple and very cheap (and certainly a damn sight cheaper than the Cup items at £170 a pop !!!) you'll get the ability to corner weight the car properly (as you would with the Cup items) you'll be able to disconnect and set the ARB lengths to ensure there's no ARB preload at static ride height.

Firstly you'll need to measure the length of your current drop links from centre to centre :

Once you've established that, pick a turnbuckle from here (I'd go M8 or M10) best to measure the dia of the standard part :

http://www.mcgillmotorsport.com/metric-rod-ends-ac...

The rod ends to suit can be found here :

http://www.mcgillmotorsport.com/male-rod-ends-metr...

You'll most likely need some of these too :

http://www.mcgillmotorsport.com/rod-end-accessorie...

and finally some of these (they're a b*itch to fit btw) :

http://www.mcgillmotorsport.com/rod-end-accessorie...

Top them off with some nice high tensile cap head bolts and you'll be good to go. If you can't make 'em for £40 a pop, you're doing something drastically wrong biggrin

Edit to add. Here's some 996 items I made earlier :

Re-edit to add : Take a look at Richard's thread here :

https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

to see how the end results look (I wonder who recommended this set up to him ......) scratchchin

smile

Edit to change rod ends web link from female to male redface

BEEN HERE!

996 GT3 anti roll bar links:

OPC quoted the following in 2016:

Front Part number:-99634306991
Front Price:- £244.91inc vat EACH
Rear Part number:-99633306990
Rear Price:- £160.09 EACH

TRW make them for Porsche front and rear. To cut a long story short if you want non adjustable:

Get rears from Euro Car parts here for less than 10% of the Porsche price http://www.eurocarparts.com/search/632900495

Get fronts from FVD for less than half of the Porsche price: http://www.fvd.net/de/en/Porsche-0/-/-/-/qsearch/s...

HAPPY EASTER

JGR motorsport prep in Blackpool recommended that I bin the standard links due to some reason that I don't understand, all I can add is the whole lot cost peanuts and the car handles perfectly
I was the second 996 gt3 owner he had steered this way,
The geo set up he did for me was the best 180 quid I have ever spent on it,from what I can remember it was the length of the drop link he didn't like but I make be wrong
