Need a Debt Collector
Discussion
Hi All - I've tried search and can't find what's needed and I'm in a bit of a rush, so...
Basically my business is owed just under £5k by a small English limited company - they've not given us any work in about 8 weeks after being regular, nor have they paid (also having been regular before now). A few emails were left unanswered and now when we call the accountants they shared offices with are suddenly very cagey about where they've gone... Not only that, but I see a potential 'replacement' limited has been formed with a member of staff of the 'old' company as a director and shareholder (likely as nominee for the director/shareholder of the company that owes me money).
Looks to me like we've missed the boat and will get nothing, but I'd like to at least try recovering the debt - can anybody on PH help or can anybody recommend somebody that can?

Debt collectors will get the run around. Letter before action, then court if still unresponsive; use their unresponsiveness to your advantage, probably won't defend it, and you can send the bailiff in. Don't hang around, get in before any winding up.
This. Or to be more precise, summons to Small Claims court, you win, they don't pay, then you escalate to High Court and the boys from the telly go in. Sorted.4x4Tyke said:

We have given up with LBA's, we now send Late Payment Demands which include a statutory amount depending on the size of the debt, our last one was for £666 so the payment was £40 + interest + Costs. We have used Thomas Higgins for many years.
