WTD - Junior .Net Developer
Discussion
I'm looking to take on my first employee to work on one of my ongoing software development projects. To date I've got by by farming bits out to contractor friends but I have so much work on that I can't go on relying on people doing stuff for me at weekends/outside of their day jobs. I need someone full time. I did a software engineering degree at uni and fondly remember my placement year at a software house in Exeter and getting my first job for a start up in Bromley, and would like to offer an opportunity to a graduate / someone looking for their first job / first move from first job.
The technology is c# .Net - desktop (winforms) applications and Asp.Net MVC web applications talking to an Asp.Net Rest API hosted on Azure with an Azure SQL database. It's an Agile based development and we use JIRA and Confluence for requirements gathering and progress tracking with source code in Bitbucket.
The main client is in Nuneaton - this role would be based on their site at Nuneaton. It's about 10 mins in a taxi from Nuneaton station.
Does anyone know anyone who may be suitable? Full job spec available, looking for someone who can start asap.

If you can afford to invest a little time in training, I'd get the brightest graduate with a numerate degree you can find. We got a physics grad for the same role, he had a little programming experience but not much. We bought him some books and gave him some time and mentoring and a development plan. He's become an extremely useful member of staff.
Thanks for the replies (there was a chap who said he was interested but he's deleted his reply for some reason so I can't contact him now).
I'm definitely willing to invest in training for the right person - my company is in the Microsoft Partner programme and I'm an MCP so it would be mutually beneficial to have a second member of staff with a Microsoft certification - but I do need someone who can be on site from day 1 and able to pick up development tasks.
I've put the word out on my network of friends/former colleagues and on my linked in, and had no response and am gradually facing the prospect of having to use a recruitment agency who are asking for a "negotiable" fee of 20% which will be painful but I may have no other option.

Why not contact a couple of the most local universities with relevant courses, lots of them may have suitable candidates looking a job. Or perhaps a Facebook post to a local selling page (ask to delete if not allowed - you are selling a job) with link to a webpage about the job - allows a local candidate to be shown this via a family friend.

Hello, that was me with regret.. I thought i didn't put myself across very well. Would love to have applied for the position but being based in Scotland and having a settled family the commute would be too much, currently working 2nd ./ 3rd line support and looking to move into a junior developer role. I Studied Software Development at college and got a HND was programming c++ and VB but that was 10 years ago. Done some programming 3 years ago using Java and c# before I landed the role I am in today. Would love to get back developing but will require some learning.
Good luck with finding someone to fill the position.

Boinging this thread. Still not filled this role, I thought there'd be plenty of suitable applicants but it seems as soon as you mention anything web based you get Java and HTML/CSS people not C# web api people as the advert says.
Anyone looking for their first/second C# development role, or know anyone who is, or can recommend a good agency to talk to? Role is based in Nuneaton.
