My screen wash pump has failed, I think.

So started to try and diagnose the fault by check firt the connector beside the bottle in the wing. Oddly there appears to be continuity to earth in both the wires feeding the pump, is that normal. No 12v either when I operate the wash function from the column stalk. All a bit odd. I would have thought that if I put a multimeter across the terminals I would see 12v when I pulled the stalk switch. So then I thought lets see which wire is sending 12v to the stalk switch and all the contacts in the switch show nothing. Anyone got any thoughts on wha I need to look for. All the fuses are good every other function on the switch works for the the wipers.

Well managed to get the pump out of the bottle and it is seized. So back to the switch and wiring and now with the pump out of the way I am getting normal expected behaviour ie power at the pump wires when the switch stalk is pulled. Have ordered a new pump.

Mine was seized after a 3 year layup, a good tap with a hammer while applying 12v and it was enough to free it

I soaked the whole unit in boiling water and it now works perfectly again. So I now have a spare if I ever need it.
