Guys, I'm trying to do a friend a favour whose restoring a 1950s car in Norway, I've found a windscreen frame in Austria for him but the cost via a selection of international couriers for this 4kg item are over £140 and its not even worth half of that, anyone got any suggestions or indeed contacts who can help out?

I run a courier company in Devon
It is an expensive job moving things from country to country
£140 is a good deal and you wont find it cheaper on shiply or any other site
Im no different than you and your mate Im always trying to do things on the cheap but there is a limit .
I actually think people expect couriers to provide some sort of charity . Its only cheap so I expect you to go hundreds of miles cheap.
We are here to make some sort of profit from what we do and even though I have spent decades doing this I am still baffled by the expectations of people

I did see that Avis were offering one way rentals to London from provincial towns and airports for 9.95. Maybe you could just go the long way round?

try transglobalexpress or worldoptions. Should be cheaper than that.

Transglobal using UPS offers £57 from Austria to the UK, and then £69 from UK to Norway.

I wonder if an Austria-based or Norway-based aggregator would offer a price similar to one of those, for the whole journey?

Cheers, will investigate further, its not so much wanting it done on the cheap as the value of item being sent hardly necessitates the cost!

UPS coming in at €362, DHL didn't want to quote.

But it's also a relative large and extremely fragile item. Both considerations will need to be accounted for in the shipping cost.

Its an inner metal frame, not fragile per se, just the awkward size really

You'll use a lot more fuel and ferry fees than £140!

Someone like Parcel2Go would be your best bet
