getting my foot in the door? engineering

hello,
im going to be finishing my foundation degree in the next few months. i left my job in 09/2015 to do my foundation degree in mechanical engineering (this was too add on to my advanced apprenticeship) so i will have a level 5. i dont feel able to do a Beng as my strengths are not academic.

now my main issue being i havn't had a job related too my degree in 4 years (since i left the place where i done my apprenticeship), i have had some bad experiences with work so i am really looking to join a larger engineering company at a level in which i can work my way up.

i dont know what roles i can apply for as some state degree or relative experience and i feel i lack both (not having a bachelors or recent experience), i also feel my CV is very lacking and probably stopping me getting a chance to interview.

i am not fussy about the type of engineering,i suppose im being a bit blinkered by automotive as its a passion (i am on PH after all). i am struggling to find the jobs.

i am based in the south-east but very happy to relocate to anywhere that will have me.

too summarise what im after:
i think my CV needs major work and would greatly appreciate any input from new engineers or those who can point me in the right direction of what to add on mine to get me an interview.
where should i be looking for jobs? any industries screaming out for young blood?

im very lost in my life at the moment and this may be reflected in my post, i will look back to edit this and answer any questions that may help you to help me,

Plenty of automotive jobs in the South East / Oxford to Cambridge belt.

JLR still seem to be hiring loads of people.

Experience is usually the key, which can be a bit catch 22.

Lots of engineering and manufacturing outfits in the South East. A lot will depend on what you want to do but a shop floor based role may be of interest.

i will have to start looking a bit better and trying to identify companies and the roles on offer.

my experience and qualifications leaves me in an awkward position as it put me between a technician and engineering roles.
my preference is leaning towards becoming an engineer but i'm happy to take a role that may eventually lead to this rather than turning down possible opportunities.

Test and Inspection can lead into ATE or Quality Engineers roles and Manufacturing/Production roles could lead into Production/Manufacturing Engineer or Production Planning roles.

There is going to be a few HVDC engineering jobs coming up in Kent soon. THE NEMO interconnector project is due to start construction phase very soon. There will be roles in the construction, maintenance and operations opening I expect (spoke with the CDM manager yesterday). Keep an eye on National Grid's, Murphy's and Siemens' websites.
