Which Super Unleaded
Discussion
Hi I'm putting my first fuel up in my 63 plate mk7 gti golf. Since it had a remap.
Chap who mapped my car recommends premium over regular but which is best? I only have a tesco, BP and sainsburys close to me, sainsburys being the closest. I have read bad reviews about BP ultimate people not liking it and the most expensive
Any ideas?

Use whatever fuel the mapper has mapped the car to run best on. I had a supercharged R32 and it was only mapped to run on shell v power. Personally I would only use shell v power or BP in your case.
Actually, you're best using VPower or Momentum, as they're the only 99 Octane fuels in the UK market. VPower has had more money spent on the overall formulation including additives, as you'd expect.BP, I believe, is only 97, the same as every other super unleaded.
i used to have Shell as a client for a while and I wouldn't use anything but V-Power out of choice.
Where I'm running low and there isn't a Shell nearby, then I'll opt for another branded 'premium' fuel.
Why? All to do with the additives package. i've seen the test data where they bought old cars with 60,000+ miles on and took out the valves to see they were completely caked in 'gunk' then ran them on V-Power for a few months and it brought them back up to almost factory clean.
In fact the diesel V-Power formula is so good at cleaning them up that they can't improve upon it.
A cleaner engine burns more efficiently so you either get more power or more miles depending on your right foot.

What about Costco 99 Octane super unleaded?BP, I believe, is only 97, the same as every other super unleaded.
I always use Sainsbury's Super (97) in my 2016 Octavia VRS (same engine as OP) and have done in a number of previous cars, including some which have been mapped. Never had an issue with any of them, and they've always appeared to run smoothly.
The nearest Tesco to me for Momentum is a 20 mile round trip, but it does get this every so often. Never used Shell Vpower - I've wanted to, but the price and availability near me makes it prohibitive.

ETA: Seems it's Greenergy, same as Tesco and Esso. I do wonder how they've managed to get a deal on 99, though, when even Esso can't get that.

Depends what software is on the car.
I'm on my 3rd modified Leon, Stage 2 APR Cupra 280, I have the 98ron file loaded on car currently and only use Nitro+ 99ron.
I ran the car for around 6 months on Momentum 99, did a logging session with my tuner one day and it was pulling timing badly. Ran a few tanks of Nitro+ and then did another logging session and difference was night and day.
I have put 95ron and 97ron in it as an emergency and have also put 102ron and 104ron in it in the past.
