Sigma lens high pitched squeel.
Discussion
This is a bit of a bugger...!
I've just splashed out on a new lens, a Sigma 18-250 HSM and I think it's got a fault.
The focus motor is emitting a high pitched, almost tortured squeel. I've tried it with OS off and on, it still does it. With the AF switched off it rotates smoothly.
Really a Bit pissed about this as I bought it down in London and I'm now 200 bloody miles away.
I did test one in the shop, which didn't make this noise, but I don't know if the sales guy got one out of stock or used the one we were using to then.
Can't be too donwith my body can it?. It works ok with other lenses.

I bought it from a small independent, so unlikely to have the option of taking it back locally, unless there is a Sigma agent or something in the North of England.
Cant feel any tight spots in the focus ring, though the Zoom isn't a consistent feel, it seems to tighten slightly then ease again. Doubt that's related.
Feeling a bit deflated now, its the first bit of kit I've bought for over four years and the first brand new bit at that, then this happens.

Definitely back to the shop or onto Sigma direct.
I've a Nikon 80-200 AF-S which makes the same sound and has done since I knowingly bought it as faulty on ebay. It's now at the stage where the sound is almost constant and will not cycle fully through the range, where as previously the sound would go after a few full actuations.
Sigma may be helpful on this, I purchased a 30 f/1.4 from Japan (ebay again!), and it had back focus issues. They happily took it in and fixed for free under warranty here in the UK.
