Great photography, although it will be interesting to see if Ted feels the same way.

I don't see a problem, they are tastefully posed pics of a very nice young lady. I would imagine Ted would kick up if they were F4nny shots etc.

Just my 2p worth

Nice baby shot... bet he doesn't sleep like that for alot longer... get used to rumaging around like a half dead numpty at 4am.. it lasts for about 6 months..lol

As for the pictures.. I didn't think.. and hope they are not percieved as offensive .. just displaying some different lighting techniques.. partial lighting is so easy to use and so effective..

how do you do that partial lighting? Is there any way to do without studio equipment?

I really like shots where you can highlight different parts of the object simply by using their inbuilt curvatures, one presumes this is simply done by the use of a spot light in one direction only?

studio lighting is a bonus beacuse you can control it alot more...

even then its thinking out of the box.. using it differently than traditional methods, by placing the light source so its facing the camera and using its drop off to light the subject you get a much softer light that follows textures more and doesn't burn highlights out. block the glare out of the lens and use a small reflector to fill in where you want..

hope this diagram helps

image one
conventional lighting

image two

using fall off light

image one isn't coming up there unfortunately, but that does make a lot of sense.

When you say a softbox is that just a light with say a sheet in front of it to stop and harsh light?

you could try diffusing light like that.. but you need to baffle it so you can direct it, also a softbox is very reflective inside so the light is directed fowards, funnily enough the closer to the subject the softer the light.. sometimes I put them as close as a matter of inches to get the right effect

ah right, so a softbox is a 100W bulb inside a carboard box which is covered in tin foil (on the inside) and tracing paper or something equally thin on the open end to diffuse the light? Obviously with a bit more class than a carboard box, tin foil and tracing paper mind

Might try that after my exams

Great photos! I've given up on trying to photograph people, I always manage to make them look even uglier than they are in real life.

I was going to say I'll be the first to lower the tone in asking for the first girl's phone number, but I see Simpo beat me to the gutter already.

It's a time-homoured Page 3 trick for - er - maximising topography

I'd have either in my house! Garden, garage or where ever is allowed

It does make a nice change though to cars! Great shots mate and thanks for the tips.

I really like this one.Would have preferred the model to wear lace tops though, as I'm not keen on the look the solid black gives at the top of the thigh.

Truly fantastic photos. They're Extremely crisp and sharp, They really highlight the contours and shape of the female form, the way the shots are lit adds a huge amount of depth to the images. they have a real moody feel to them too.

I definitely wouldnt class the images as offensive, they're very tastefully done.

thanks for your comments... I shpuld really post the ones of the blonde tied up with gaffer tape and hanging from a rope from the rafters.... but I thought that would be pushing it a bit! inspite of this being a photographic thread

so continuing on an educational lighting theme... these were lit from behind. by getting her to stand infront of a 3mx2m sheet of perspex and throwing huge amounts of light through it, bouncing it back to capture the detail using huge silver reflectors.. and using a wind machine to move her hair
