Hi Guys can anyone tell me the history behind this .....

I have just bought (off ebay where else!) a model of a Jago Geep its a plinth mounted 1/43? scale Willys in red with JAGO below the screen frame and carries a label stating its one of 30 produced as competition prizes by Jago Automotive.

Hoping to have my own model Geep ready for Stoneleigh , just a rough first attempt based on a rusty Tonka flat fender Willys , bit of toy automotive re-cycling , but all in the spirit of the full sized Geep!

What I really wanted was the £200 Tamiya R/C one to modify but Santa didnt bring it.....!

The actual die cast model it is based on looks like it is either a Solido or Norev Army Jeep from France hence the LHD.

If they had based it on a US Mail Jeep model they would have had 2WD and RHD.

Technically speaking they should have started by taking a junior hacksaw to a Dinky or Corgi Mark 1 Escort model.....!

There is no makers name underneath the actual model just a few serial numbers , under the display case it says K H Norton Leicester and " THIS MODEL IS NOT A TOY It has been modified and repainted as a limited issue Code 3 collectors item"

Whatever Code 3 means........?

just for interest....Gate produce a good Willys Jeep in 1:18 scale, die cast metal, unfortunately mine came with Laurel and Hardy perched inside, but they can be removed.
Code 3 ?...lucky it didn't say Code 1.

Hi
A "Modern Originals" catalogue has just flopped onto the mat. On p17 they are offering a 1:18 scale die-cast Willys jeep in military style with removable hood, folding windscreen and opening bonnet. Phone 08706 006001 and they'll take your order for item number 80631 for £24.50 and £3.95 postage and give you a free bonus "Eric Chevillard Chronometer Watch".
Cheers
Ian
