Audi A6 Avant 2008 - bluetooth music through AMI

Hoping this is possible. I am pretty sure what I have in my A6 Avant (08 plate Le Mans spec if that helps) is MMI 2G High (because I have colour satnav and a dial controller but not joystick), with AMI port in glovebox (though never really used).

Bought an adapter from Amazon (this one https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00R2HZ1XU/ref...

Didn't work. Adapter appeared to not be powered - blue light never came on. Sent it back.

Any suggestions on alternative parts to try?

The problem is most likely that the Bluetooth dongle isn't receiving power via the aux cable.

Yeah i figured that was the problem but a bit puzzled why it wasn't getting power as the AMI should have provided it on the correct pins. Unless that changed from AMI 2G to 3G
