I run a 2012 E91 318d, your very wise changing your transmission oil, BMW say it's lifetime fill (whatever) that's just a ruse to make running the car seem cheaper to the fleet managers.

Anyways, 75w90 any brand, aslong as it is GL5 spec, changed mine at 50k, going to change it again at 90K (so in a few weeks) I do it every 30k as a rule, MAN transmission should take 2L + I would do the differential oil also at rear of the car, this will be take 1L of the same stuff, and do this till it pours out the fill hole, yes there is no drain hole on this.

I would just take it a garage as I couldn't be bothered getting mucky underneath car, alot easier

I also added LM Ceratec to the tune of 6% of the filling capacity and it transformed gear shifting experience in my e39 - from reluctantly notchy into super smooth. Also added it into the rear diff (not LSD!) and (to begin with) the engine.
