I hate them

But need something to keep my car under to stop the birds messing up the paintwork cant cut trees down/garage full and too low for the motor to get in/dont want a car cover (im lazy & its too much bother!)

Its a victorian house, 4 stories & i need help with a solution that will be in keeping with the house (i dont want to go down the wooden post & corrugated plastic avenue, if you see where im coming from?)


any advise REALLY appreciated.

The only cheapish option I can think of is one of the framework tent garage. They come in differing sizes are easy to put up, and once up you can leave it up. Just unzip the front for access and egress. Not sure if they do one which is transparent I think they are all coloured.

If its a victorian house, you should pay careful consideration to the quality of bricks on the face of the house, and the style of decorative woodwork. I presume it has a pitch slate roof?

2 Brick pillars, from the closest match of brickwork you can get to your house, with the same colour mortar preferably lime, with a pitch slate roof, and a wooden fascia to the front, painted (victorians painted cheap wood and waxed quality wood).

Don't use a flat roof, it will look shite. And don't think a pitched roof will be expensive, if you're any good at DIY you can build it yourself from timber, and get a roofer to slate it (including the flashing between the brickwork and the house). You'll need a gutter which for neatness can drain away at the back of the carport, and don't let it overhang the neighbour's property or you'll get in trouble.

Also check if you need planning permission.
