Ploughing through the literature that came with my 420SE something about this letter amuses me so I thought I’d share it.

Having lived in the Middle East for the best part of a decade I can only imagine the original letter back in 1987 from Al Habtoor – basically one of the main dealers here and a billionaire trading family in other sectors - after they received their first TVR to sell. Sadly, I don’t have that original letter, but this is the response from TVR.

My 420SE arrived in December 1987 and was eventually sold in October 1989! I don’t know of any others that they imported or sold…

Very interesting and amusing! I thought there was something wrong with my car because I can't raise the roof with the windows up; good to know it's a 'design feature'. Makes me wonder what else there is of that ilk under the skin.

I also have to admit that I'm a little baffled by folks who restore their cars to a level of perfection that was never there when the cars were originally made, I suspect letters like this were quite common...

My 350i doesn't mind the windows up - you can raise the roof.

THe 400SX on the other hand needs windows down or preferably doors open. Another anecdodte for BBWF....
